splash guard shattered. how big of a deal?

    my splash guard on my MH light shattere a couple weeks ago. im just wondering if thats ok or whats the worst that could happen? i dont have any money to fix it right now so what happens is gonna happen.

    just gonna throw this in there too, how good are ushio 10,000K bulbs 150W MH? i have one and am wondering if its gonna grow coral faster or not as fast as my 12K bulb.

    Ushio is supposedly a really good brand. I've not used them before.

    Can I ask how the slash guard "shattered"? lol

    drunk?

    I would atleast get some glass cut because the point of that glass is to stop some of the radiation. You could burn your corals.

    it got hot i guess. i got home a couple weeks ag and it was shattered. will it really burn them? the bulb i had has been in a shelf for a year so when i turned it on it started to smoke. thats not normal is it?

    no more smoke. my dad thinks it had to burn some of the dust it accumulated on the outside since it had been unused and sitting.

    now its smoking again...

    double ended. and it think its done smoking for good now... hopefully

    If double ended, the UV radiation will burn your corals. If not, then there is UV protection built into the bulb.

    It will also burn your fish too, you need to take care of it as soon as possible. I wouldn't run it until you can replace the glass. (it's usually only like $15 depending on the fixture.
