    Hi Folks.
    Got this come in on a piece of live rock few months back, its been growing in size, now i know its not aptaisia or Majeno, so anybody know what it is, there was only one until it split, i have added before and after pics of it splitting....

    Any ideas what kind of polyps, i do have yellow and tan polyps in my tank but they multiply by a small one growing off the side of the daddy and growing , where as this one literally split in 2 over a couple of days?

    Must be some sort of mushroom to split like that. Very nice looking!

    Corals are able to reproduce both sexually or asexually! In your case it was through asexual reproduction as a result of lateral fission. Their are many forms of fission such as fragmentation and longitudinal and are a reproduction process where no gametes are released or exchanged.
    Polyp is some sort of Zoanthid! Depending on the light intensity, bulb kelvin and other factors, the coloration associated with any polyp can be altered significantly from one tank to the next!

    I agree tha it is a polyp of some type, it even looks like a Purple People Eater. If it is, lucky you. Luna

    Looks like an anemone to me. Maybe not a majano but something else. Palys don't have such pointy tentacles usually.
