Welcome Tom and feel free to register as a member! Don't cost nothin'!

I personally don't like sponge filters as they are nitrate traps and require constant maintenance/cleaning.

I am spongeless in my tanks. Protein Skimmer, HOB filters with LR rubble, and a refugium on my 80 gallon is all I have. Plus lots of water circulation.
