I have a 20L i made into a sump by siliconing in a over under over baffle system using glass. The middle plate is an inch off the bottom and its all spaced an inch apart. Im getting a small amount of tiny tiny bubbles back into the display from my skimmer outlet and i cant put a filter sock on the outlet or it gurgles. Would it be safe to put a sponge inbetween the middle pane and last pane in the baffle system to help reduce bubbles or does anyone have a better idea?

What type skimmer do you use ? how wide is the space where the skimmer sets in ? how deep is the water in the sump on its normal runing depth.

try routing the drain from the skimmer away from the main tank pump input, i wouldnt use a sponge.

I thought of that last nite but i cant cause the space is to tight to be turning the skimmer around and then it out block access to my drain

make your skimmer output go into a plastic cup resting on the bottom of sump. I think ive heard of someone doing that and it forced all freshly skimmed water to the surface and the bubbles came out of water......

a put the blue cup over the end of the return pipe so the bubbles follow the cup up to the surface.you can see how it reflects the bubbles to the surface in the photo.it was a free fix to my bubble problem.i used plastic zip ties to hold it there.theres still some bubbles but they don't make it into the tank.before this fix i could'nt see through the water to the other side of the sump.

The 135 has a standard 3/4 outlet just use a couple of 90's to turn the water flow and maybe a coupling to lower it then the 90s to send the water across the sumps water surface and not let it just splash right straight down thats where the bubbles are coming form or a couple of 45's then let it run down the side of the sumps glass . I do this with my fuge drain that dump in right above the 2. 1.5 inch bulkheads for the pumps wet end.

I tried tangster, water shoots out way to fast. The only thing it accomplished was shooting the bubbles off the glass and into the sump then into the display. I think im gonna have to try a sponge.
