I had a sponge in my QT that I used copper in. My Banggai Cardinal just came out of the QT, so now there's no ammonia source. I'd like to save the sponges from the tank so I can use them later for another QT, but I used copper in the tank. Would taking the sponges and putting them in the DT sump be safe? Should I do something to remove any copper that may be left over? The tank hasn't been treated in the last month.

No anything in with copper in it can leach it. You will need to keep your QT active.

+1 to the above. Just get a new sponge and put that in the DT for next time. Never let anything that has come in contact with copper get anywhere near your DT.
