    Couple q's do sponges need the root area conected inorder to survive? And can a sponge be cut to or so to say fragged?

    I think you can just cut them to frag.
    But I have never done it so I cant say for sure.

    As sponges do not have specialized cells, cutting off /fragging the sponge in question should be fine and it should grow back in theory.
