I got a desarjini sailfin tang, my first, two weeks ago. It is housed in a 75 gallon tank with a medium lionfish and a medium snowflake eel. The temp is about 79, the specific gravity is about .020, and the amount of dissolved solids is near the top end. I think ammonia and such are wnl.

My problem is that the tang is developing some splotches of color loss. I think ich is more like salt granule looking things, these are more areas where the color of the scales is gone.

    Any ideas!?

Sounds like stress from poor water quality and too small of a tank.

Could be lateral line disease, if it is, i suggest buying a titanium probe rod..my hippo had it and that rod cleared it up..could be stress from that lion fish chasing it around, if you have ich then hypo is'nt difficult at all..

+1 on stress. I had a desjardini that changed/lost color when stressed. Is he pretty large? Those other two guys could be stressing him out.
