i was thinking about getting a spotter grouper for my 55 gal. they get 7 inchs and are the only grouper small enough. i dont really like groupers but i do like the all mat black with white dots on this guy. but, is it really worth it? do they have a personality? would it be ok with a dwarf lion? is it fun to watch eat? just some questions. thanks

A 55 is way too small, These buggers get big, I've seen one over 15 inches but they tend to get a greyish color when fully grown. They have a great personality but tends to hide when threatened.
They eat a lot. I got mine when he was about 3 inches and is now 6"
A lion fish would be fine with it.
A Marine Betta could be another option that will fin in well in a 55gal w/ a lion fish.

Picture? latin name? Spotted grouper is used for a dozen or so groupers.

All groupers will eat fish smaller then them.

Oh my bad... By spotted, I thought you meant panther lol. Because a lot of people refer to the panther as spotted.

Yep the Marine Bettas do cost a lot hence the reason I don't have one as yet lol.
I know of a few "spotted" groupers, a picture or latin name would help some;)
