So i know this is not Diatoms, it look's very different from the Diatoms that i currently have. It's not green hair algae, as it is not green it,s brown, and i really don't think it's coralline. I took a pic to see if you can tell what it is. Does Diatoms come in different forms if this is what it is?

so i just rubbed my hand on it, and it came off really easy, i didn't take it all off cause i didn't want to leave my hand in the tank to long. But that came off the rock, and a lot of other stuff, seemed like a really dirty rock

ohh ok didn't know that, this kind seems to come off a lot easier than my other diatoms. lol my tank is just being taken over by this stuff. It's all over the rocks, sandbed, and starting on the glass now. I also have green hair algae starting as well, but it's no where near as bad as diatoms.

I wish my tank would just finish up it's cycle already so i can get some CUC to get rid of all of this algae

yeah diatoms are annoying for sure. my brother's tank has a bloom now, just started today it seems, we added some new things that were dry and then boom! I think there is another poster here that had such a bad case it was amazing...caked, diatoms growing on diatoms...it was amazing in a sad way. Forgot his username...

On the upside, pods and micro fauna love diatoms, and they grow like crazy eating them so... take the good with the bad I guess. :) It is annoying though, would be nice if you could move the tank into the closest during this stage right? :)
