So basically i have 2 soft coral a kenya tree and zoanthids. I was wondering what tests, supplements, or information should i gather before i buy a sps or lps coal. Also what sps or lps coral would you recommend to start with.

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
In an established tank, you should test for Ca/Mag/Alk when appropriate. Always monitor SG and sometimes temp. Once you get a base line for your Ca/Mag/Alk you can make slow adjustments several ways. One good way is just simple water changes, another is a dosing pump, or manual administration of solution parts A/B or equiv, some use kalkawassar. You really do not need to dose until you have a good amount of stony corals, large clams and a lot of coralline algae. If your corals or fish looked stress always test for ammonia and or nitrates.

Easy lps IMO are Acans, Duncans, Euphyllias (Hammer, Torch, Frog spawn), Galaxy (aggressive)......Easier sps are Monitpora, Pocilllopora, Digitata.

Cal and Alk are the 2 most important things to test for. Mag you dont have to test for as often. Also, if you dont have a lot of coral then you really dont need to dose and regular water changes are more than enough to keep those levels stable. Especially with easier corals, they will tolerate swings in these levels very well. LPS are much easier to care for than SPS for the most part!
"Beginner LPS" Frogspawn, Hammer, Torch, Plates (short and long tenticle), trumpet, candycane, Duncan... there are a bunch if you look.
"Beginner SPS"- Montipora Digitata, montipora capricornis, birdsnests, Poccillatora, Stylophora
