Sps are turning brown and white !!!

    i just purchased two sps corals a few weeks ago .. one of them is half brown and half white still with a little color on the bottom part .. the other one is all brown ..

    i just tested my water and these are the results .. (using salifert kits )

    CAL. 490
    ALK. 9 DKH
    MAG. 800
    PH. 8.4
    Phosphate - 0
    Nitrates - 0

    im using 250 w bulbs with a giesemann infininti light fixture .. its stock bulbs (12K) with 4 80w actinics . running a carbon and phosphate reactor .. 2 vortech mp40 powerheads .. its a 125 gal tank

    any help will be appreciated..

    Sound like the results on acro eating flatworms or red bugs. Do you see eggs around the base? Or stuff that looks like sponges or circle marks on the areas that look white? Does the white areas have polyp extensiOn?

    For RTN, I would frag into the good tissue and put superglue gel on all cut surfaces. For future coral purchases, when you buy it use Revive or Coral Rx before putting it into your tank.

    thank you ... is it possible that the brown can still color up over time ?

    Yes, the brown is still alive and if you keep your water parameters in line and under good lighting it will color up for you. It's very common for SPS corals to turn brown when first introduced.
