well after many hours on google and yahoo. I cant find out what type of coral this is.

at the LFS was in there sps tank. I believe they have 2x250mh with 2 4' VHO super actinics on tank.

coral looked slightly tan with all lights on. but with just there vho super actinics it had alot of green tinted glow to skin.. (possibley a hint of purple)

well its been in the tank for 3-4 weeks..at first introduced it turned browner, some area around polyp ports whiteish and didn't have any other color tint to skin anymore under actinics

.. since last week when I put in a ati-blue+ bulb directly above it. now its getting green tint starting to cover 60% of it. seems like the green will take over entire coral soon..

lfs owner says it maybe in the stag horn family.. also let me throw this in, he said he thought is was a pearlberry.. I've done alot of searches for pearlberrys, and I know some arent purple but I definitly dont think this is one of those varities.

anyone know what type of acro this is?

any help will be appreciated greatly. and whats the difference between acropora and staghorn? same just different varies?

1st pic right after I added coral with all daylights/actinic on

2nd pic is within last week and no daylights on.. just blue bulbs..

you'll notice the green tint above coming in.^^ from what I've read thats a good sign.

Cant help with the ID Night - Rida
can say that IME corals colouring up is a great sign

SPS corals expelling their symbiotic algae (brown outs) is often a result of changes in light intensity and/ or spectrum

Ive purchased a few cream/ brown plain frags that showed decent polyp extension in the LFS tank and otherwise looked healthy and had them slowly develop colouration once in my set up and acclimatised to the light

update: my lighting right now is uvl454 pc's, I just turned my other 2 t5 bulbs on (uvl12k/atiblue+) and the tan color did look a little purple tint under those lights. :)

I also started target feeding the sps corals within last 2 weeks every few days with phytoplankton.. does that help with colors?

It is very difficult to correctly ID. If you have a photo a little closer. Colour means very little with SPS. All I can really say is that it is a acro

SPS don't eat phytoplankton. Phytoplankton can feed bacterioplankton and zooplankton which the SPS will then eat. Very few corals directly ingest phyto.....they are meat eaters.

ok, here's three pictures up close.. even got my hands wet! lol

all pics are under different lighting so you can see the difference.. you'll see how that brown looks a little purple.

    half lights = uvl454,12k, and ati-blue
    all lights = uvl14k,454,12k and ati-blue
    actinics= uvl454

Your yellow gorgonian would be one of the few corals that eats phyto so continue target feeding it.
