I am putting this in ASAP section because I'd like quick answers. Diver's Den has some fish for sale tonight that I am wanting, and require a lower ideal temp. I currently have my SPS reef running 78-79. The target temp would be 75.

Asking experienced SPS keepers...How long would the time frame need to be to lower my tank temp the 3 degrees, without affecting my Acropora?

MODS: If you could keep this in ASAP until 6 PM EST, i'd appreciate it. Please feel free to move this to General Reef Topics afterward.

    Thanks!

You should be able to get away with the drop in two days time.

Yeah, 2-3 days would be as fast as I'd be comfortable with.

They will be fine. You are talking days not minutes. You might see some retraction for a bit but once they acclimate it will be life as usual.

Trio didn't get listed. Either they found something wrong during "final inspection", or someone came in and cherry picked 'em. Oh well. Good to know for the future though on the time. Out of curiosity, anyone know of a long standing successful SPS dominant reef at temps 75 or less?

I don't know of any specifically, but I think it should not be that difficult to achieve.

The ventralis? Those went instantly, $700. PIA is much cheaper...

BTW, those are fine at 78F. Hawaii has been keeping them there; a local guy has kept some a couple years now at 78.

PIA never has any anthias! They always have wrasses that I want...but only when my monthly tank budget is gone! Evil operation I tell you!

He gets Ventralis. Email him and make an arrangement.
