    nah, it's not a diggi it's not encrusting over rock, it's plating and growing shoots.

    Yes that's exactly how digitata grows. The coralites don't resemble an efflo at all.

    Not all montipora species grow flat over rocks

    Hmm. I have several colonies of digi and this one is very different from them. I'll try to get a better pic.

    Yeah, certainly looks much more monti like than acro like to me. Digi would be my guess as well. Flow and light conditions can make the same species grow very differently.

    I had a few other people guessing digi as well. I guess it is, just a strange one for me! It's amazing how different things can look.

    Here is a few ways digitata can grow Montipora digitata

    On the other hand it is not necessarily digitata. There are many other Montiporas that grow branches like that, and the only way to better determine it is with a closer pic.
