I have a single Turbo and 2 Asteria. I will study the link further.

    Thanks RG.

No changes to flow, growth of the coral my have decreased flow to the base.

Only sps at that level, all lps, mushrooms and zoanthids are in the sand bed.

I agree, it would be a step in the right direction. As far staying up to find a possible culprit, nightmares alone of waking up to stark white skeletons of my sps, with the assistance of a some high grade caffeine and worry will keep me alert.

I really appreciate the assistance everyone. Thank you.

I really don't think this can be a parasite simply because parasites will attack a coral, and keep on attacking until the coral dies, or you find them, and eradicate. That's a lot of damage in a short span of time, so to me it's something else.

IME, I find that every tank has it's diagnostic coral, it's the first coral to show signs of problems before any of the rest. For myself, I have a monti, that will retract it's polyps if my alk gets lower. If I ignore it for a few days, my torts begin to stn, etc....How do you dose your tank? Is it automated, or do you manually dump the 2 part into the tank? Also with an AIO tank, I assume you dump your supplements in your back sections, and let the pump disperse it into the tank? When do you dose?

No new damage last night and no worm see either, just a large white stomatella hanging round at the base. I will throw up an image of that, yes I know probably not the culprit by suspects often return to the scene of the crime.

Thank you again for all that responded.

This tank has a sump compartment built into the back, that is the area that I top off and dose.

I completely agree regarding the "diagnostic"coral. All parameters checked out. The only newer trend is temp is running 81 F since it is warming up here in AZ. That temp has never been an issue in the past but the change may contribute to some stress.

Sometimes these random events just happen.

I was just suggesting that possibly when you dosed, maybe you dumped in the alk faster than normal, or possibly dumped both ca and alk supplements closer together than other times. As long as the dosing amount is the same, then it wont change your parameters. But the speed at which you dose at, and the time you let one supplement dilute in your tank before adding the other could be the reason you are getting that RTN event.

By chance is the coral near a return?

    No.

I had the same thing happen to two spots on my Acropora Hyacanthius, at two different times. In those instances, about the same amount of tissue gone and both times found in am as soon as the lights came on. It not something you can miss so it had to happen at night.

I guess I will just chock it up to a random RTN event, or someone hidden invert munching on the acropora every once in awhile.

The tissue loss does not spread after the initial insult, the other acropora just grow tissue right over the spots in a matter of weeks, you can not even tell it occurred now.
