I guess the MP60 is equal to that of having 2 Mp20s. That might be why, but personally, i would rather have 2 smaller powerheads equal to one large one. It gives you more options that way.

    If I get a Vortech I will get the MP40 at 3200gph.

Yes, an MP60 would be bit much for a 75g tank. LOL.

My LFS has a single 40 on a 120, just to give you some perspective on how much flow that pump puts out.

Just wondering...what corals are in the 120? There are no other powerheads in the tank?

SPS on the same side as the MP40, LPS on the other, chalices in between all of them.

Just to give a varied opinion, i regret getting my single mp40. On a 55g i find its either blasting my coral on not getting to the far side. If i had the money, im sure i would be happy with 2 synced but the 400 i shelled out for 1 is a disappointment. Im struggling to find a consistent setting that will put flow thru the whole tank, wont destroy my softies and doesnt keep half my sand bed(arag alive) im constant suspension. GL.

^^^Thats a pretty tall order. Softies can't handle it. Very difficult to have a mixed tank. SPS need the flow, LPS and softies don't care for it. A MP40 is good for a 90g to a 120g.... on a 55g with softies it's just the wrong pump.

Some good points, benbabcock. I have sugar fine sand. i said I wouldn't get it again after having it blow all around in my 29g, but I still bought 90 lb sugar fine dry aragonite for my 75g(plus refuge).

I really wish they still offered the MP20s. To get two of the mp10s would be just 50hgph less(which is fine), but cost 50% more than a single mp40. But I do agree, you will get a better flow pattern if powerheads are placed at both ends of the tank.

I want almost all SPS for this tank, some LPS. I currently have 3X Koralia nano 425 plus my return pump will be 800hpg. Shouldn't this be plenty for the other side of the tank?

I bought a couple off another reef forum of which we do not dare speak the name here. All I'm saying is I had no problem buying used. Solid product.

    +1

I want my 75g to be almost all SPS, some LPS.
