I have had a SPS hitchhiker which has been living under a 10k Power Compact (with actinics about 195 watts total) for about a year. it has a nice brown color. Is this unusual? Anyone keep a Power compact only SPS reef?

many sps can be kept under pc fixtures.sps just discribes the polyps and its skeleton-small polyp stoney.pavonas are a lower light sps and will do fine and some types of monti,i'm sure there are many more.just know your coral before you buy it.some sps will do well but turn a brown or drab color

i agree with the above statements. they can be kept but they usually don't "thrive" under pc lighting. as far as color and growth its usually a drab color and growth is slow. if can upgrade to t5's that would be a lot better. i have 2 24w t5ho with individual reflectors and i grow my sps frags under that in a 24g nano tank. hth.
