So i've made the decision, I'm going to get 4-35gal trash cans, fill them with aquarium water and live rock, put the fish in a bowl and transfer to a new taller tank stand since mine is only 24 1/2" high, I hate that you have to bend over to enjoy and tank and no working room under the tank. I know its a little late to change but oh well... my question is how high are your tank stands??? I was thinking maybe 32" but what does everyone else have? thanks for any suggestions.

Mine is 30 inches high, but it's too high for me lol. I can barely reach into the tank because it's too tall. But for a normal size person I think 32 inches or more would be fine.

Mine is 40" high and love it! With the 12" canopy I do need a step ladder to get into the tank, but still worth the problem.

I like 32" also, its just I didn't want to make it that high and then it look odd because its so high, I guess its because i'm use to this shorty one. Anyone have a good link to a DIY stand build? Theres TONS out there and haven't decided on a design yet. I don't have much for tools, "just moved on my own" but luckily work has everything I will need. :D

The build to me is all about your sump size and skimmer size. I did 40" for my 90g so that I could get my 39g sump under. Then I have a Aqua 180 that needs 6" of water to work the best. Well I wanted my first section of my sump to be higher that 6" so I raised the skimmer with a 4" in stand so that I could do a 10" bubble trap.
The more water you can put in your sump the better.
So bigger stand equaled bigger sump and more over all water.

I built mine so I could mounta light to the top of my stand shining in there so I can see. I do have to use a step stool to reach to the bottom of my tank but I can reach most things in there from the floor. Im 6'1" so shorter people would have a harder time. I have enough room and can put a 55 Gal sump in there with no mods to the stand if I needed too and still have room

well right now I have a 55gal sump and not much room for lights etc. I actually modified my skimmer to be external becuase of the height. It would be nice for it to be in the sump. but it doesnt have anything in the manual for water height, its a "pro clear aquatic" 150 i believe. its locally made here in florida, i'm not to impressed with that either but thats another day. I have an idea of the design I want but don't know how to do the ends, I want to make the internal width atleast 13in so If i ever have to remove refugium I could. any good build threads?
