I have had this star polyp frag for about 3 months now and it has been growing nicely. For the whole time I have had this coral I had a lighting fixture that was mad for just viewing the fish. Only 1 T8 bulb. Even under these lighting conditions my stars had been growing nicely! I recently just upgraded to a hagan glo T5 HO fixture. 2x39watts for my 33gallon tank. My Zoanthids seem to be doing better under this lighting and my stars seem to be doing great also, but the tips of their tenticles are curled. They never use to be. Since they liked my old lighting so much when I got this new fixture and bulbs I placed them on the bottom of the tank. They are acting the same, all polyps some out in the morning and everything, it's just the tips of them are curled. Why is that? Is that a good sign?

How recently have you upgraded? If its been a little bit you might want to consider shifting them back up.

It's only been 4 days since I got the fixture.

Give them time to adjust to the new lighting. You have quadrupled the light output at least with the T5HO.

I have two different types of GSP in my tank...one is very long and flowy...the other curls just like yours...it uncurls at night, so I've always assumed its a light thing...in my case both varieties have been in my tank for years...I'm guessing the one is a deeper water species...it grows well, but I don't think it will ever acclimate any better to the higher light, LOL!
