Starfish eating my zoa?

    I woke up this morning to my starfish on my zoa. Is it eating it? I was told it was reef safe starfish

    It is a dry heat, yeah right !
    No most likely he is eating algae you can not see. It's possible but not likely I have never had a Formia start mess with my zoanthids but anything is possible.

    Ok thanks. This is my first starfish and zoa so I really don't want to have to get rid of either.

    It actually looks like a Linkia sp. star to me, but even so, it's safe. You might try feeding the star...if this is a new tank, there likely isn't much for it to eat.

    Most sea stars are opportunistic omnivores, altho there are species that tend to feed more on algae than meaty foods.
