i found atleast 3 on my new peices of live rock and i wanna know if they are reef safe because they are small right now and seem to not be harming anything they have spiky arms and they are very skinny like a worm but i know its not a worm cause i saw the central disc.

look like the legs of Brittle star fish to me frkid247
they are reef safe, harmless scavengers of detrius etc
I have never had any issues with them if my ID is correct

thats what i was thinking too. i have like one that has a long leg and i havent seen the other four of it so if it has just one really really long one that is so funny looking. i have seen one out and he is half an inch in diameter. i just didnt know if it was gonna be safe or not cause i was gonna try and catch them and give them to my science teacher for is FOWLR tank he has cause he loves starfish.

I love my brittles. Have about a hundred. Now if you see a small little stubby starfish, get rid of it quick. Asterinas are reef safe, but they reproduce like rats. I'm still waiting for my LFS to get a Harlequin shrimp to eat them. I have several hundred of those. Tired of harvesting them.
