Starfish or baddie?

What do we have here?

 

Asterina star. How many do you have?

Normally no, there is one of two species that are bad but rarely show up in the hobby. There are some that eat coralline algae they are usually blue.

 

So should I kill it or keep it?

 

Some people will kill them and some will keep them. I have one in my tank which I've only seen maybe three times. One or two is ok but just don't let them get out of control. To kill it is up to you. Do you have a fuge or sump you can put it in?

 

Got a filter area in the back of tank that used to hold bioballs full of rock atm.

 

Drop him in there and keep an eye on him.

I have a blue one, but has 5 legs all same size - tiny little critter hasnt done any harm. Also have at least one the same as yours too. never see him
- and a small white bristle star - Ive seen once. Oh and a sand shifting star that i see all the time
