I recently started a reef and everything is going good. I introduced a red starfish (incorrectly) and he hid a couple days and lost part of a leg. One of my cleaner shrimp was near it, the next day the shrimp was dead. Do starfish emit a toxin when injured?

I've never read that starfish were toxic. Your tank should be fine. Is it a linkia?

Oh, I just had a thought, are you sure the shrimp was dead ...could it possibly have been a molted exoskeleton?
