I have two sandsifters in my tank. Lately they have been on top is each other constantly. I did not know if they are possibly mating?

The gametes are released in to the water and fertilized there. From there, they free float around until they can stick to something. Those that stick have a greater chance of survival. Those that float get eaten. Then they change from bilaterally symetrical to radially symetrical and PRESTO!!!! You have a starfish. Something like that.

Well, I'll keep my fingers crossed. Maybe out of the many possible babies, I will see one of the little guys one day. But I won't hold my breath.
