I know huh? I posted pics on the ID this page. Some people keep them, I am learning. It is funny. I had one wipe out a tank before. I cant imagine not being worried about a mantis in any of my tanks. I guess other mantis shrimp are pretty doscile. One of the 3 reef moderators was saying there is a person that was actually able to keep a fish in the same tank as the mantis. In my world that is SUPER impressive. I figure that one we finally caught in our old tank cost at least a thousand dollars before we were able to catch him.

Does anyone know why a clam would release its footing constantly? I swear it wants to be a base jumper.

Hey, thanks. It is a lot of hard work, but very fun. I'm gonna have to have someone show me how to take better pictures. I've been told these dont do justice.

Maybe this weekend? I will let you know. I have been sick since Sunday, but if I am feeling better this weekend I will do it.
And don't worry about the camera, that think is built like a tank ;) Wouldn't be the first time it's hit the ground ;)

It wants a better spot. If you need the clam up in your tank cause your par levels are a little lower than optimum I have seen people carve out a little deprssion in a piece of live rock and place the clam in it. When it attaches then they move it in the tank where they think it will do best.

I have 7 clams now, 5 species, all for at least a year and a couple almost 2 years. I have found the clams know what they want better than I do. I have them placed throughout the tank at various heights depending on species, size and mantle color. I have an undertow going across the front of my tank rather slowly from right to left just above the level of the sand with 3 clams on it. If I turned them facing left they would all be facing to the right in the morning. I could say the same for any of my clams. If I were to move them even slightly they will go back to the way they were setting. I have a Crocea that jumped from the top of my tank several times. I let it set on the sand on a piece of LR and attach. Moved it back to the top for almost 18 mos stayed there then "jumped" again. Hes now been on the other side of the tank for 3-4 mos and seems to like it there. Go figure.

Your tank looks freaking awesome in person. I agree we need some better pics and a lot of full tank shots! Sorry about the wet dry filter being too big :(

Great idea. I'll get going on that right away. He is sitting in the sand right now. I am just tired of moving everything around.

Thanks so much. About the wet/dry, no problem. I was happy to try it, Jeremy tried a million things. We'll just order one. Hey, did your neighbors like the stand? I havent heard. Are they on 3reef?
