almost a month already and the latest update. Nitrates and phosphates are reading 0 with API kit. There's almost no more algae in the tank except for a little of that white fuzzy stuff on the glass from the vodka dosing. Currently doing .3 ml a day. I took a picture of my refuge section in the sump. All that cyano that was covering everything before in the fuge is almost gone and the sand is sparkling white. Only a bit more left in there. To add. my alk is still a bit high. It's about 10.2 now. Will still hold off on water changes until it falls more. My sps load isn't great enough in the tank for them to consume it faster.

That is good :) , I have not started Vodka dosing in fear of tank crash, but I think that now I should also try with little dose of Vodka. Can we use something else instead of Vodka with same effect as I will drink myself instead of dosing.

I read people using vinegar or sugar also. and some really crazy people mixing it. I started and remain with low doses to minimize a catastrophic effect. It's been working out good so far but time will tell lol.

so the latest update since the last post...

-Been consistent with .5 ml per day dose.
-No unusual algae outbreaks anymore and cyano from before dosing is starving out nicely.
-Been feeding more than usual and nitrates and phosphates remain unreadable using API kit.
-Got some bubble algae and placed 2 emerald crabs to take care of that hopefully.
    -Coral health looks good.

Now for the changes. Well...I got biopellets that I plan to install tomorrow morning. I couldn't hold off the craving to try them out. So starting tomorrow I will be changing these updates to biopellet progress. I will be using the BRS reactor that I currently run GFO with. I bought 200 ml of Two little Fishies NPX pellets. They recommend 200 per 50 gallons. My system has a total water quantity of about 62 gallons so I will start it off with the full amount. I decided to start with the full amount because of the current dosing of vodka that has been successful to date. I will still run Rox carbon but will discontinue GFO use. One of two things will happen with this. The system will be a success and this will be a cheap overall improvement. Or, it will be an expensive disaster and wipe out the tank. I'm hoping for the first one and will definitely keep the updates rolling on a weekly or bi-weekly schedule with pictures to follow.

I was about to do your recommendation, but I was thinking in the future and laziness kicked in lol. so I threw the whole 200 ml in with hopes that it won't backfire. if I start seeing the water get cloudy then I'll have no choice but to pull some out.

I have never run them, but from what I have read, this is not a good idea. Hopefully someone can chime in with specifics.

Remember, nothing good happens fast in this hobby!
