If you don't have the 20L yet... the best price I found on mine was at Petsmart for $30.00. I also have the Coralife SS 220 on my 100gal reef, and really like it. I think I paid 140 on marinedepot(but check ebay too). For most of my info I went to melevsreef.com. Plenty of DIY projects, and sump ideas. For the 29gal sump I think we used 1 piece for baffles, and 1 for the overflow box. If you do build the overflow box I would make this too: Hofer Gurgle Buster

It really helps quite the water flow down.

If you could get some pix of your setup PharmrJohn that would be greatly appreciated so I have a better understanding of what you explained to me. Visuals always seem to help me out lol I will do further research on the skimmers you suggested as well. I saw something on here about 10 min. ago where ReefSparky said he got two filter socks for like 79.99 from his LFS. Those sounds a lil expensive but I know they are probably worth it but they can be rinsed out right? instead of replaced every two weeks?

Mikejrice: If i can get glass cut for that cheap at a Lowe's then i will probably go ahead and do that so there isn't such a problem for the silicone adhering from glass to glass instead of glass to acrylic.

I read more on the Eshopps box then as I was doing some research on that last week I saw that a member on here, I think it was Covey, did a nice DIY on a overflow build and from the sounds and looks of it that it worked well and people didn't have troubles of it breaking siphon even after power outages so I was considering building that for cheap possibly instead of the Eshopps overflow.

Thanks for the info guys....this is all greatly appreciated since I am still in the research phase and gathering as much info as I can before I pull the trigger.

i just built mine kinda like the one Matt has the diagram of, but just a little different. your diagram has me wondering if i messed up. i have my baffles/bubble removers after my refuge area. so another words my refuge/sump does in this order: from DT, inlet area, skimmer area, refuge area, then my baffles and then to my return pump. would this be good?

few things Amanda did not include in the above post is that having all equipment before you build purchased, and leave room for more, I will have to drain my 29 to drill my uv sterilizer into the tank becuase I'm out of space.., also I would place two baffles between the return sump and fuge IMO if yu go by the design posted above, i may place another due to microbubbles..not going to be fun pulling the sump out..

Thanks for all the info guys...seems like a few of you like the coralife skimmer so I'll have to take that into consideration as well. As for fuge I was thinkin about using some sand some live rock some live plants and a few CUC members but that's all just an idea right now and may change but we will see. I was also thinking about using two baffles to help stop the microbubbles
