So what kicked off my interest in this hobby was picking up a 10g tank for the kids and putting a few guppies and neons in it. A month later I had my 75g SW. Now I want to convert it into a (I guess you would call it) nano. The idea is to put some corals, a BTA and a small clown. Now, space is an issue.

Below is a pic that my 6 year old girl took (she watches Daddy too much), hence the angle. Her pic is actually pretty good so I'll submit it. I have enough room in back for a HOB something, whether it be a skimmer or filter. I am thinking skimmer.

I also need to know what kind of lighting I should get.

    TIA. John.

get a 20 inch t5 fixture with say 2 or 3 bulbs. 4 would be great, a nano skimmer of sorts (Except for that one made by Fission) and youd be set :)

sounds awesome, as aquaboy said, i would go with t5s and not pc, gives you more ceiling room with corals

A BTA will be really awesome with a clown. With that said you are going to need to let that puppy mature for 4-6 months before adding. Some will say
6-12 , but if you get your tank cycled good in 4-6 weeks and hold your params steady for a good 4 months you should be fine. The BTA is a light hungry anenome though so you definetly will want to go T-5 or better. If you want to add some sps frags down the road you might just want to start with a halide and then you are good to go from here on out. As for a skimmer I use the rio nano for my 3 gallon pico and it works great ! Cheap too ! ;D Here are some links to get you going . Good luck and keep us posted ! 8)

Well, yes and no. As long as you add the sps' well after BTA you should be fine. The thing is you want to make sure that your anenome is well established in HIS/HER spot. You don't want it roaming around stinging your other corals. You should be fine if you add then after your BTA gets established. just make sure you don't reposition light or powerheads afterwards. It will make him move then you can have problem. Anyways you are just gonna be putting in frags right ? Not like these are going to be SHOW corals.

All I get for now are frags....Whether it be in my 75g or upcoming nano. I need so many upgrades on my main tank that spending hundreds of dollars on livestock is just not wise spending. I need hundreds of dollars in skimming, lighting and my fuge. I tell ya.....I thought I had a pretty good handle of the cost of this hobby. Nope. My research was incomplete. Oh well. A little at a time. I just won't overload on anything and all will be well.
