    I could definitely be wrong, but I was under the impression that most 55's were tempered. I would double check on that before drilling. If that isn't the case, my vote goes for drilling too.

    I think on my 55 just the bottom is tempered, and my 46 all panels are tempered. But I could have this backwards! This is indicated by a sticker on the bottom of the tank in both cases, I just can't remember which is which.
