    Hey guys,

My main tanks doing great and corals are outgrowing there home so I thought I would start a frag tank out of an extra 10 gal that I have. Question is what kind of lighting recomendations do you have? Thinking LED's but not opposed to other options. Currently have Monti,Frogspawn,Zoa's and xenia frags but lighting should not be limited to just those as I never know what I might want to frag. May even raise a few clams not sure. Iv installed a frag rack half way up in the 10 gal tank and will probably go bare bottom. So let me know what you think.3 Reefers havn't let me down yet.Looking forward to your input.

Are you thinking of trying to raise and breed clams? If its just the prior suggested, then most standard lighting will work since you have the rack half way up, if not, then a rapidled 12 led set up should work. I think your issue is going to be keeping water params stable more than a lighting issue if you move into SPS or clams.

Not raise and breed clams but grow a few up. Water Perams not really an issue as i have a few extra auto dosing units, or may just do religous water changes. Not sure yet. Was looking at all the new led units out there as cost efficiancy is a plus but I have T5's on the main tank and everything grows like weeds.

IMO growing clams up in a frag tank with other frags and req's with them seems like a nightmare regardless of dosing equipment. But i'd keep the lighting between the 2 tanks rather similar to decrease adjustment between the 2. Good luck to ya though.

Yea maybe I should stick to Clams in the main tank and frags in the frag tank. I see your point.
