I'vie been lurkng around, learning all i can before i start in on this endevor. Saturday i am picking up a 75 gallon drilled tank and sump, with all the pumps, skimmer and goodies, as well as the live rock and sand.

I am already trying to put together a stocking list that satisifies what both the wife and i find interesting. Would something like the following work out ok?

    Toby puffer
    Flame angel
Pair of clowns ( leaning toward black ones )
    Dwarf lionfish of some flavor

It will be a fowlr tank for a good while before we would attempt to add some coral.

Also, what kind of inverts could we use in place of snails and crabs? Would urchins and starfish survive?

Thanks in advance everyone, I'm looking forward to learning more amd getting my tank setup and cycling!

+1 i'd drop the lion, really limits what you can have, plus extra work, IMO.

plus the puffer isn't reef safe!

If you're gonna do corals watch the starfish and certain urchins, and the puffer!

sorry! do some window shopping and reef compalibilty reading on live aquaria.com!

WElcome and keep the questions coming!

    Welcome to 3reef.

I had issues with my puffer munching on urchins, in fact that is what I feed him occasionally. Starfish are very hit and miss, stay away from the Linika's group until the tank becomes very established. The only star that I can think of that would probably be ok is a chocolate star.

Remember the fish store is going to try and sell you just about anything that catches your eye, regardless of how appropriate it is for your individual tank, be strong.

And congrats on the new tank.
