1.026 at 80 degrees is perfect for a reef tank.

That's fine for a Fish Only tank, but 1.026 is better for a reef. The temp is right on.

    Hey Aquatic_Eddy
Give these links FLECH posted earlier a read.  Matt the admin of this site has set up very in depth stages to setting up a reef aquarium.  Next after you have read I would grab a book.  There is a section on this site for  Book Reviews
Please don't stop asking question here as there are a ton of people that can help you.  My intension is just to point you in a direction where you can begin to help yourself and gain confidence.

Look forward to see and reading of your tank progression

Aquatic eddy, if you in any possible way can get Metal Halides that's what you need to go with, but if you really can't afford it go with VHO(very high output). Before you decide on lights you need to decide what kind of corals you want.

    Half an inch?
Is that from tank to stand or stand to floor?

Either way, that's a lot. I would try to fix it. It can cause a lot of stress on the tank when there is water in it.
