Alright after that crazy day and last night! I did the full water change and put in all 40lbs of sand! (BAD HORRIBLE AWFUL STUPID IDEA!) The sand pretty much polluted the water totally where u couldn't see an inch though the glass of the tank! I thought for sure my fish were LONG GONERS! But thankfully my little fishes pulled through and actually SURVIVED the horrific sand storm! I swear, that fish is like a mini mike tyson, he can pretty much go through anything! Pics comin' here in a sec!

Congrats on completing the redo. One thing to do with the sand is put it place first. The cover it well with plastic wrap, towels or something similar, then slowly add most of the water in. Add your rocks and then top off the tank.

The fish can handle the murky water from sand well just think of what happens when there is a major storm that plows through a reef area and the stirring of sand it causes.

Keep your flow at your intended amount and the sand will settle out the quickest. Using a canister filter with filter floss in it only will help also.

Good luck with the redo... Going through the same aip problem right now but only drying out about 10-20Lbs at rock at a time. and replacing and so on...

I did purchase a majano/aip wand from MD. It works great, However not on the ones I cant reach in the back of the tank which is the largest issue. It keeps my front nice and tidy though.

Oh on a side note, you should have gotten the sand I did! for our new tank....

Its easily rinsed and I have had it before in my 90g with sand sleeping wrasses and they did well with it and its slightly larger size. Its Carribsea and does well for less then 1$ a pound.
