    I'm sure someone will disagree with me, but it seems like the natural evolution of having a saltwater tank is to migrate towards a reef tank. Lots of people start out with fish only tanks and slowly but surely they start to add this coral and that invert until and just a bit more live rock, and so forth and so on. My natural tendancy is to start out with a reef tank in mind and work from there. Its a great hobby no matter what you decide to go with.
