    Hey everyone! I'm on day 5 of cycling w/ live sand/rock and some dead coral. I have a few questions....The first day everything was around where it should be, and today I checked and they were:
    ph= 7.8
    nitrite= 3
    ammonia=.3
    Nitrate=10
    salinity=30.5
    SG=1.0225
    temp=79

    Im guessing the cycle is staring b/c of the ammonia rise. How often should I be checking? everyday or every few days? Does my rock set up look ok?Anything else I'm missing?

    Everything looks pretty good. The PH is a little on the low side.
    I would just test every 2 or three days. Your going to be riding this for a while longer ;)

    How should I raise the ph? Youre not supposed to water change till the end of cycle right? Also the lfs said with the live rock/sand in a 29g i should cycle within 2 weeks....?

    You can get PH buffers. Theres various types out there. Just add it to the water, no reason for a water change.
    2 weeks is very fast for a cycle IMO. The norm is anywhere in 6-12 weeks. But, every tank is different. Just wait till the nitrites and ammonia hit 0, then the nitrates will fall then climb again. Then you'll be ready ;)

    lies!! unless it's cured!!

    you're right about the water change...don't worry about it. just let your ammonia and nitrite level out, then wait a few days. then do a water change and get the rest of your params level!!

    good luck fellow 29g'er

    EDIT: damn packleader beat me to it...AGAIN!! lol;)

    Also, should I wait until days after the cycle to add any of cuc members? or can they go in at a certain point?
