    Actually Patrick was speculating that the immediate and coincidental decrease in nitrates may have been due to the addition of fresh carbon. I don’t think this is the reason, probably his refugium kicking in coupled with the water change.

    So, Ive been on vacation for 6 days. but had someone knowledgable dosing for me. Im up to 1.5 mL daily, and my most recent check had phos at zip and nitrate at 20. just thought id throw in an update

    possibly. according to the study I am following, I am supposed to be seeing some sort of result around this time, so I am beginning to sway over to the idea that the dosing is responsible. My last WC was last week and I literally havent added anything or replced anything so who knows!? we will get our answer over the next few days i suppose...

    This is interesting! Does the ethyl alcohol fuel some sort of bacteria? I didn't think anything could benefit from it.

    Just an update: I tested today and nitrates were around 5!! currently I am at 2.0 mL and will soon begin to come down to a maintenance dose. Just thought Id throw out the news
