So I have had a Kole Tang for the last 2 weeks, and not once have I seen him eat anything that I have put in my tank. I have tried brine, mysis, algae sheets, and flake food, yet he still hasn't eaten. There is not a large enough algae growth in my tank for him to survive on that alone. Also he looks really thin, and has a bunch of tiny white specks all over his body. Any ideas please help I love this fish!:(

You should try some Rod’s Food if possible. I am not sure if its sold nation wide or not. That’s the only thing my tang would eat (after he depleted the algae in my tank). Its considered a reef food, from micro size to chopped clam and shrimp. Good luck.

1st, did you buy this fish when it was thin to begin with ? ( could you see a defined spine bone line running down the center of this fish ?

2, if you could see that notible skinny/compressed gutt already chances were already good that the fish had been captured and held captive for to long beofre it was shipped to the LFS . ( ive seen crap loads of this in certain LFS stores )

3, if this is the case , it's a tail tail sign that fish has been starved of food for too Long , and will waste away in your tank .

4, if no signs of starvation are visual , it will give the fish more time to adjust and hopefully begin eating regurly/grazing etc.

5, the white spots are ich ' it's stress and if it's been starved it's become suceptible to parasites , etc.
sadly some fish even seemingly heathy ones ' that any one might purchase , just wont eat what you offer to it'
stress thrue shipping' and handling practices' cause most of this , and certain trappers that hold fish , wont try to fed them while being held , then the cheap poorly run LFS places will buy this , i think it's sad and abusive.

you may try a last ditch effort and offer some dried sea weed '

6, I feel for you' you adore this fish it' caught your eye' sadly from what you've told us in your post , i think it will die shortly within another week no more than a month '

Try soaking your food in garlic for about 20min before you feed to see if it will entice him to start eating.

I've had good luck using Kent Fresh/Marine Garlic Extreme, it makes the fish go nuts for food.

    More greens, less meat.

    Try broccoli :-/

Otherwise, return to LFS for credit while fish is still breathing if you can.

he will die unless you get him in a qt. and try garlic supplement, add it to marine cusuine, the best frozen food imo. You are going to have to treat the ich. If you can't move hime, then get you temp up to 82 and feed that garlic with everymeal. You have to gewt him to eat or its over.

Thank you so much everyone! Karma to you all. Unfortunately yesterday just as I had come home with my quarantine tank and Kent garlic xtreme, and some medicine for the little guy, just after the small tank got setup my tang was laying on the bottom. He was still moving his gills so I got a hold of him and put him in the quarantine and tried everything I could but ut was useless. He is gone now. : (
