OK i know this is old (2005) but how on earth can you get away with this?

Here it is SignOnSanDiego.com > News > Nation -- Seven threatened clams stolen from Waikiki Aquarium

someone stole some giant clams from the waikiki aquarium, and is presumed to be either a hobbyist or interested in selling them. But to steal some endangered clams from a aquarium? pitiful and i hope whoever it was reads this and bows their head in shame. but how?

I went to the aquarium there twice while I was in Hawaii in April. The giant clam exhibit was my favorite and actually use the picture of it as a background on my laptop -- shame anyone would do that.

The aquarium should have known better.

Not that the general public is that untrustworthy...but the clams were vulnerable to any kid looking for a souvenir to take home from Hawaii. (and yes, unfortunately the possibility of a unscrupulous aquarium keeper) - could just as easily been someone looking to make some exotic clam chowder.

I think the least of their worries would be the clams being returned to the wild locally.

Not to mention the guaranteed coin that would eventually be tossed into tank.

Am surprised their management exposed such ignorance making such a big deal over the theft of 7 "1-4" inch clams.

Here is a picture of the clam tank at the aquarium, was one of my favorite exhibits there, its open air and gets direct sunlight -- nicely done and no there were no coins and they take really good care of their stuff there as its part of the college research department as well.
