so i have a 14 gal tank that has a thick sand bed and my engineer goby always moves it around. Sometimes he will cover up my corals on the sand bed with sand. Anyway i am starting a 3 gallon pico tank and i need some sand. Would it be ok if i stole a cup or two out of the tank to start my new pico? I dont want to harm my beautiful 14 gallon tank but need some sand and dont feel like buying a 20 pound bag, when i need only six pounds! Any suggestions?

No problem....Be very patient with the Pico. I know from experience. Make sure you see a definate cycle. I also do 2 water changes of 50% a week. I just use water from the big tank.

I use water from my 150 for bi-weekly water changes. Beats the hell out of mixing up ro/di salt twice a week. Also the 150 has all the "Stuff" in it I.E. Buffer, Coral Vitamins, etc.:)
