Well, I am finally underway with my 125 and figured I would start my own thread 8) I started out with 120 lbs of Carib Sea Fiji Pink sand and 90 lbs of Marco rock.

I also got 20 gallons of water from a friend's established reef tank and a medium sized live rock from his sump to get the cycle going.

The I purchased 2 120 watt dimable LEDs from Ebay (I realize I may need 3 but figured I would start with these and see how they work.

Here are a few pictures after I put them up:

Nice looking tank there Mike, very similar to mine.

2 of the non-dimmable LED's are working just fine on my 125long DT.

I think using just two gives you a little more options of placing corals in slightly less light.
3 would give you no option other them putting them under a ledge!

I do hope you're planning an overflow of some type (check mine out- works awesome!) and using a sump (again, check mine out- can be done in stand with tank set up- PM for details), and losing soon the cannister fiter, etc.

    Good on ya

Thanks Todd. Yeah my plan is to build a sump, but started with the canister for now. One problem is that my stand won't fit anything that is more than 15 inches wide due to the supports in it. I have been watching cl for a 30 long and was going to build a sump out of that. I will definitely check out your build once I get to that point, or pm you 8)

    MIke,

I too started with a cannister, and a big Aqua flow HOB, and a HOB PS.

For a sump, I was referring to a think plastic one, like I',m using. The beauty of it is you can bend and fold it when empty, an wedge it in to the stand, like I had to do. It's been working great for over 9 months now.
There are many various shapes and size plastic containers, at a big box store like HD. I got mine at Menards- a 50g, rubbermaid 'roughneck' container.
The bottom of it is about 15inches wide, and the top bends to a slight oval to fit in my stand nicely. With large sump volume, I still have alot of room for all my other stuff in my stand. Cost for container?- I pretty sure it was 15-15 dollars!
