    A friend of my wife was in town and wanted to go to the California Academy of Science in Golden Gate Park, San Francisco.

    I'd never been there and heard it had a decent aquarium so figured it would be ok. Boy was I wrong... it was amazing! I was completely blown away by the exhibits. They had a HUGE reef tank. I'm not sure how big, but at least a couple hundred thousand of gallons with a ton of fish and live corals - all lit from above (where you can stand/watch) by a bunch of huge halides. They had numerous other very well kept exhibits, including smaller reef exhibits. It is not the largest aquarium by any stretch, but it is extremely well done and has very well kept exhibits. If anyone is planning on visiting the Bay Area then you should definitely make a stop. If you've got kids, the rest of the science center is pretty cool too with lots of touchy, feely things for kids to do.

    The penguins and baby ostriches are fun too!
