steps to start sump?

    How do you quiet the overflow? Sounds like a tub drain.

    Todd turned me onto what is called a "reverse durso" for the outlet into the sump. Google it and check it out. It seriously made my water going into sump silent.
    Also you want your drain line right at the surface of the sump waterline. If its to low you'll get a bubbling sound and to high will have a splashing noise. If that doesn't help, "reverse durso".
