Your corals look fantastic steve. I'm gonna take the plunge on my first SPS in a few months when I get my new light and Ca Reactor.
    Nice Work so far;)

tha would be cool amcarrig, its a fair observation, and the bigger they get the less sleep they need.

Thanks Siddique, if you can get frags, the calcium demands are low, and its a good way to build up experience and all being well, they eventually go on to be large colonies.

Thanks Yamaharider. had to bite the bullet and remove 1 leather finger coral to ensure this piece had plenty of space to grow into.

both leathers corals now moved to the 60 ( Ill update that thread next)
added a couple of extra pieces of base rock to fill the space left by the removal of the 2 large finger corals , also moved a couple of bits around at weekend to create space between the SPS corals and other things in tank

and an update on the Milli - which after 3 moves to find a location it appreciates in terms of flow ( proximity from wave maker) is now extending polyps more frequently

That's a beautiful coral Steve. We're considering moving our "non-extending" mille up a bit to see if it's unhappy because it needs more light.

thank you, it had me nervous for a few weeks.
its like you said on your thread amcarrig, SPS can be funny corals , just when you believe you have a grasp on what they need, another one comes along and makes you question your understanding

That is real nice looking. I like the idea of moving the leathers out too. Looks nice.

This is exactly what I meant when I said in my "about you" blurb when you and I first became mod's--

I said that I was still trying to grasp the cause and effect of it all in our reef tanks. If was as simple as knowing what action to take in order to counteract every problem--we'd all be pro's.

    Until that day, I guess. . . . .:-/

BTW, Steve. Your tank looks absolutely amazing. You have a great grasp on things. We can all learn a lot from you.

    thank you stylaster

Thanks Peredhil, yes, reserving the top half of the tank for SPS and also removing a potential source of future problems (from what I have read, leather corals are favourites in a chemical war with SPS , I do run carbon 24/7 but now Im less worried about the work that carbon has to do)

Thanks Larry, my grasp improves every day I spend on 3 reef. I learn so much from threads I dont participate on and any valuable information that they contain gets saved in my memory banks
