Removing that leather is the best thing you could do , I really hate to mix LPS with my SPS corals unless its special one like that Elegance or a nice hammer or anchor ? I put 3 little heads of some damn green candy cane and boy am I regretting that its getting huge and I will have to kill off some heads to get it under control I also had a Parvonia to take over sent a football sized chunk back home with my son in Nov. and now am scrubbing the few little spots left with a stiff toothbrush daily to kill it off ASAP I have need for that real estate :)

Totally agreed, after doing much soul searching I realised I would either have to commit to creating an enviroment fit for SPS or probably fail for various reasons with a mixed tank

the irony being that after creating the space, a visit to the market after work today and the guy who I have purchased all my recent SPS colonies/ large frags from, has nothing but softies and LPS (LOL)

been focused on the Nano last 3 weeks, not done anything new in the 5ft

made up for that at the weekend
increased the flow once again - swapped out one of the 6000 LPH Sum Sum Klones
for a 12,000 LPH model of the same make - now this thing pushes water about
    [IMG]

and spotted some more aquacultured SPS on artificial rock type frag plugs

my picture taking skills are non existant IMHO - both of these pieces are much more colourful in reality than they are on these photos

Radient wrasse has started diving into the sand with just his head during daytime, capturing prey I believe, hence my corals have a constant supply of "snow"

got to visit the aquarium market again today and got real lucky

got these 4 new frags on plastic weighted frag plugs at 5 USD each
my picture taking skills still leave a lot to be desired
but you can see the growth of the coral over the plug surface

vendor told me he has had these frags from corals in his own tanks and grown them out for 3 months before putting in store

    IDs - I believe there are 2 x Millipora , 1 x Monti digitata and 1 x acro spp?

I have located them on the half way shelf and will leave them there for 7 days and next week raise them closer to my lights

the Elegance and Torch have been moved to the 60
they where not appreciating the increased flow at all and I lost 1 head of the torch due to the excess battering it was getting

This yellow acro has coloured up really brightly over last couple of weeks
pictures dont do it justice - its radient, I believe its a sunset acro or Scripps Acro?

and this new fellow, only been in since Thursday - but the creamy base colour is now getting a hint of green/blue colouration and hopefully this will continue

still this purple tipped Milli is my fav , has great polyp extension especially at night time

polyp extension not great with this one yet, but the colour has deepened and there is purple growth tips on some of the fingers now

another one of the Thursday introductions that is already starting to show some colour potential has a greent tint to this one

You may notice that in removing my 2 SPS corals, I also gave 1/3rd of the sand bed a hover over with the syphon, tank looks so much brighter
which can only benefit these SPS, I reckon
