    Thank you Amcarrig
I think thats my problem I had another read of the taking macro images thread, messed about with camera settings and cleaned the glass thoroughly the camera still wanted to focus back on the glass rather than the coral beyond it so it could be camera shake

    thanks Dingo
neighbour Tomita - indicated it could be Porites Cylindrica
I googled that but as yet have not found a perfect matching image

    Steve[/QUOTE]

this coral was purchased at start of Feb 2010

this image was taken last weekend and the tips are now very blueish and you can see new branches and side shoots

In addition added this metallic green trachy which for an LPS coral seems to handle flow much better than Torch , Elegance and Hammer species did in this set up

I will get a new picture of this up tonight

the cream colored loveliness is now a very blue tipped cream loveliness

must be my lighting - whatever colour SPS coral I buy - seems to end up being blue or purple ? - my red monti cap now has a visible blue edge rather than white growth edge?

Im not complaining by the way, Im just sharing my happiness

I agree about the lights. We must not use the appearance of a coral at a store or vendor when imagining what the coral will look like in our tank. IME it almost always changes. These animals adapt to their surroundings.

    Nice growth, BTW Steve!! :)
