just by way of bumping this thread before my trip Friday to collect a couple of new SPS frags

this was the 1st SPS coral I put in my 5ft - its a green acropora or one of 2 frags thats left of the green acro I purchased in April

being very new to SPS corals I made a stupid newbie mistake
I saw the coral under MH lights and thus put it in my tank as high as it would go - without the tips breaking the water surface

result - it went brown, then some of it went white quickly - RTN

I fragged 2 pieces that where still brown and got some help from Dr Frag by pm - who informed me of my error
I placed the 2 browned out frags about half way down the reef wall and as you can see from this one - its colouring up again nicely and has started to encrust over the rock it is puttied on to

my subsequent additions where all placed about half way up the tank and so far so good, no more brown outs or RTN

Note to self - 250 watt MH 30cm above water surface at the LFS does not mean get them as close to your T5s as possible when you get them home

Good looking coral, Steve. Your LR is nice and clean too. Looks like you're quite the husband(ry). :)

well its now offcially an addiction
Wednesday evening saw me remove all the GSP and Anthellia (as much as I could anyway) from the 5ft
Thursday went back in with finger nails to scrape a few more bits of GSP from rocks surrounding original colonies ( not a small QTY)

Friday - flow upgraded once again with a new Sum Sum twin 5000 LPH wavemaker replacing the 3000 LPH one that was there previously so thats taken my flow up from 42 x to over 50 x tank volume

Saturday - had to take back the 2 x bubble corals (kept my hammer, torch and elegance) simply because I dont now have enough low flow areas and my bubbles seemed the most unhappiest in the increased water movement

tank looks a bit bare now, 5 large pieces removed (GSP x 2 , Athellia and bubbles and only replaced with 2 small frags above)

    but every cloud

I now have a grass covered 60 (I will get some pictures of my semi reef on another thread tomorrow)

and plenty of space for more frags in the 70

Those two "frags" are very beautiful. Like tatted suggests, those are about as frag as the Statue Of Liberty.
