Amazing how many products are available now....in just a couple of years....ever think about doing the solid carbon dosing? That way you don't have to worry about missing doses when you are away. When I stopped dosing, the solid pellets were just being discussed. I am not sure if I see better results using them over V/S/orV. Personally, I went with a peristaltic pump with a line into a 1.75L of vodka...

I will certainly be trying to solid dosing bio pellets eventually

I also have a spare dosing pump on my 3 way Bubble Magus
whilst I am building the dose up in increments of 0.5ml each week the doser is not useable (it wont do .05) but when I calculate my maintenance dose, I can round down the figure and then dose that daily using the spare pump and can break it down so if for example my maintainance dose was 4 mils I would use 4 doses of 1ml over a 24 hour period

agreed, but I dont always trust them

I ran that Bubble Magus for 3 days, off line, with RODI water and measuring jugs
and I made notes about how much fluid the jugs had in them
I set my mobile alarm to ring so I could watch the doser adding liquid to the jug
and then when I verified it was roughly what I expected it to be, I poured it back into the container

and I even sat up until 4 am on the second night, just to make sure that it would have dosed the 40 mils of fluid , had I gone to bed
    LOL

not only are the tips now a much brighter blue, but you can see the dark areas are fading
which hopefully means they will start to colour up blue over the next few weeks

Very nice Steve-O! Now I'm going to have to search your 'new toy' thread and see if you mention where you picked up that little gadget.

    Thank you , John

Sorry about that Reef Monkey, Arcadia is a UK company but I did assume they would export almost anywhere that had aquarium hobbyists

Silly question but: So you put the blue LED light on the coral and the color of the coral shifts to blue?

Would would happen if I put it on a red millepora?

    TIA

    Honest answer, Im not sure
I believe that you need at least some of the colour you want to develop to be present on the coral when you focus some single colour on them
(these lamps are also available in reds, yellows, greens and whites)
so if you wanted to intensify the color of the red , then focusing a red light on it would achieve that for you)

basically light tends to reflect of things that are the same color as it
so a blue light on a blue coral makes that blue pop! whilst light of a different colour could just be absorbed into the object

a red lamp should do the same when focused on a red coral.

It might change the tone of the red to a purple color if you used a blue lamp
and it would probably make the green aspect flouresc a bit more

I have an until now brown SPS also in a direct line of the beam
and this coral is developing slight blue/purple tips now due to the light colour that its being saturated with
