    exactly Nismo
I monitored the tank and added enough to compensate for utilisation
    levels stayed very constant
mix has remained the same - I just increased timers on 3 occasions by 10 seconds - Im now doing 30 seconds more in a 24 hour period and yet the levels are still the same (no increase)

    Very good!!

I find it inspiring your so willing to experiment with different things with your tank's inhabitants on the line. I understand your very careful and make changes slowly but there's always a chance of things going wrong "knock on wood". It's a blessing to be able to learn from your experiments what can work and what doesn't.

    Thanks Nismo

    changes are made slowly
my increase on Calc and Alk have been subjects I have been studying, practicing with for over 12 months now
and I always have test kits and use them routinely
Ill run tests twice a week without hesitation
Ill run tests daily when I am manipulating the timing on the doser
my DKH will not reach 9 and my Calc will not reach 450 because I would know to back off on the timer on the dosing pumps in order to prevent them climbing to those levels

Tank looks awesome Steve, great info too. I've read through this a bunch of times and still haven't absorbed a fraction of it. I'm amazed at that spotlight effect. I actually have a par30 blue led spotlight, and noticed since a blue-tipped acro under it has become incredible fluorescent blue. I thought it was water quality, but I may have to rethink that.... Anyways, what's happening with the MH lighting? Any more thoughts? On my 93g cube, the 250W has been pretty good. The only problem I'm finding is the 250W bleached a few LPS corals. Most are ok, but there were a few, even putting them in the shaded corners was too much (moving from 29g with 93W T-5). I ended up having to move a maze brain to my lower 29g tank (with a 70w mh) to let it recover. It's already looking much better, I'll probably try again in the upper tank in a few weeks. The SPS corals seem quite happy so far though.

well i would say that I see a regular difference in the quality of the coraline. Color not so much... it looks like the different colors (deep red, orange, green, etc.) just grow all by themselves in their areas, and then the generic pinkinsh purple grows everywhere.

    Thanks m2434
I share your concerns with my LPS to be honest, carbon dosing and then an increase of light may not be ideal for them, so extra feedings and a gradual acclimatise is something I am considering
been on 1 mission already to find out whats available
only canopy I have seen is a Oddysea 3 x 250 wattsm, I could use this and remove central MH lamp so as not to melt my euro brace
I also saw the large metal reflectors and ballasts sold seperate
one issue I did find was that there was not much choice on lamps
can only find Coralife or local brands - wanted to see a brand I recognise like Ushio, Radium etc

    Thanks Dingo
I only have pink, purple and red at present and they do seem to intensify with a token gesture of Mag addition.

    update

    1 new coral added
green branching SPS - Acropora - something or other

6 purple frags recently cut from this set up now affixed on the rockwork

tank is cloudy as it was re scaped slightly at same time, in order to try and evenly distribute spaces between SPS corals

pictures taken at the end of the hour long scaping session
that only involved 1 rock slide and about half a dozen accidental new frags being created
