Thanks WuWu - my Monti is attached to a frag plug, which I orignally puttied to the rocks, but its only been in tank a couple of months so its not encrusted onto surrounding rocks, hence I snapped it away from the putty and can pick it up by base and move and then if happy, Ill re use putty

Not only is it still ok, the "mouth" keeps opening further and the membrane around it has gotten bigger and pinker. Checked with my very trusted LFS and he says it is a great filter feeder. It is also light and sound sensitive. If hubby closes the cabinet doors too hard, it shuts super quick.

Sorry, I am not allowed to use our camera (I take very, very bad pictures) otherwise I would try and get one for you.

I will keep my fingers crossed for yours. I also make sure that I keep corals from encroaching too close to the clam so that he can open and close. Although yours does look cool with the zoas around. Sort of like facial hair ;D

    thank you Reef Sparky

Wu Wu, I applied the reef putty to the frag plug the monti came on
reef putty is firm and will withstand the activity of snails , hermits etc
but it does mean you can snap the frag plug away from rockwork if you need to without much force being required

IMO yes, I think it was originally glued to the plug
the plug is one of those modern ones that looks like rockwork

but if your fragging this coral, breaking a piece of with pliers, then superglue to attach it to a plug, or your rockwork is ideal IMO

if Im securing corals to small rocks, plugs etc - I use glue
If Im securing resulting frags which are then on these small rocks, plugs
to the larger rocks in the tank, then I use putty as its easier to make changes later, should I need to.
