It is a dry heat, yeah right !
Well I would judge that to be a significant change in coloration for the better. Thanks for including my favorite tabling acropora, looking forward to the colors that coral takes on.

Are you seeing any pinks or red hues to the birds nest or the large smooth skin acropora?

    Thank you Nor_Cal_Guy

    Thank you Cheryl

IMHO the birdsnest it looking pinker
my blue corals seem to be increasing in intensity and the color is moving down the branches
and the best red I have is on one of my Wellso's and that is certainly a deeper red than it was before

also noted some significant growth in just 3 weeks, with frags encrusting plugs much faster and frags on the rockwork, starting to encrust them at an improved rate

Crazy what a difference halide's make. I'm sure they'll look totally different in a few months under those bad boys. I've been thinking about switching to halide's soon, just don't want to fry my softies.. So we'll see.

Wow. What a difference! But then again, I'm not really surprised. I've always preferred MH lighting over anything else.

    Thanks aw1447
I have a number of LPS corals on the sand bed and 1st layer of rockwork
do not have any soft corals in this tank though
although I have certainly seem, shrooms, zoanthids, leathers etc under MH lighting
the soft corals are often termed moderate light corals
my opinion is those guidelines are often just indicating what the minimum you can keep them with is, rather than the maximum they do well in

I have 6 x T5s over my 4ft, with leather corals 4 inches from water surface
and canopy 2 inches above water level
    they are thriving IMHO
in your situation careful acclimatisation would be the key to success IMHO

although if you have decent growth, and color on your SPS already (and you do seem to have , judging by your tank thread) then it may be an added expense and increased running costs, that you do not actually require.

    Thank you Annick

    added timers yesterday
have 1 lamp coming on 30 minutes before the other one
and then going of 30 minutes before the other one

    Thanks John
a worthwhile investment thus far for me
even seems to have helped with the colors on some of my LPS corals, notably any that had red in them
